About the Official Senior World Golf Ranking:

The “Official Senior World Golf Ranking” is an individual ranking based on a senior professional or amateur golfer’s performance while participating in "qualifying official senior or non senior professional golf events” over the most current 2 year plus a day (104 week plus a day) period.

How the Official Senior World Golf Ranking works:

To earn ranking points and be included in the “ranking”, a professional or amateur golfer must achieve a “top 25” finish in a “qualifying official senior professional golf event” on a "qualifying major senior professional golf tour”, or, a “top 10” finish in a “qualifying official senior professional golf event” on a "qualifying minor senior professional golf tour”.
A “qualifying official senior professional golf event” is an event designated an “official money event” by, and included on the “official tour schedule” of a "qualifying major or minor senior professional golf tour”.

Additional “ranking points” are awarded to professional or amateur golfers who have previously been designated a “senior” by  earning “ranking points” in a “qualifying official professional golf event”, and then who achieves a “top 10” finish, or makes the cut in a “qualifying official non senior professional golf event” on a "qualifying major non senior professional golf tour”.

A “qualifying official non senior professional golf event” is an event designated an “official money event” by, and included on the “official tour schedule” of a "qualifying major non senior professional golf tour”.

(The Official Senior World Golf Ranking is an individual performance ranking, and therefore, team and other special events that do not include “official money” as designated by the particular tour, do not qualify).
There are currently 4 "qualifying major senior and non senior professional golf tours”, being the Champions Tour,  PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and the LIV Golf Tour.
A "qualifying major senior or non senior professional golf tour” is one that includes official R&A and USGA "major" professional golf events on its official tour schedule, and/or has an event purse average of more than 1.2 million US dollars.

There is currently 1 "qualifying minor senior professional golf tour”, being the European Senior’s Legends Tour.
A "qualifying minor senior professional golf tour” is one that includes official R&A or USGA "major" professional golf events on its official tour schedule, and is designated by the Official Senior World Golf Ranking.

Current Rankings:

The OSWGR commenced publication at the start of the 2011 season.

Rankings are recalculated and updated weekly after each Tournament or Event where ranking points are earned, or when there is an occurrence where ranking points previously earned are lost. If there is no Event or occurrence that affects the ranking, then they are not updated, and would remain unchanged until there is.

Ranking Calculation:

As a more complete description, this ranking features a Cumulative Aggregate Multi Level Point Average Ranking System. The formula rights and all derivatives of this calculation, system, and ranking, are registered, and accordingly protected by international copyright law.

As a component of the complete ranking calculation, while progressing from one finishing position to the next, the Cumulative Aggregate Point System is simply the fairest point distribution that is mathematically possible.

A golfer’s performance is tested over 3 periods, the immediate past (otherwise referred to as “current”) 104 week (2 year) plus a day period, the current 52 week (1 year) plus a day period, and the last 8 “Senior” event weeks where ranking points were awarded (If there is no current week “Senior” event, points awarded for “non Senior” events will be included immediately and then designated to the next “Senior” event week).

Total points earned by individual golfers during each period, are then subject to 9 levels of calculation, including a bonus factor giving additional credit for more events with points (EWP). The aggregate of the results from each level of calculation then ultimately provides the final points average ranking (PAR) factor as follows:

- Period 1 (current 104 weeks + 1 day) Level 1 (1 to 4 EWP) = 40% of 1% Point Avg + 1% of EWP;

- Period 1 (current 104 weeks + 1 day) Level 2 (5 to 9 EWP) = 80% of 1% Point Avg + 1% of EWP;

- Period 1 (current 104 weeks + 1 day) Level 3 (over 9 EWP) = 1% Point Avg + 1% of EWP;

- Period 2 (current 52 weeks + 1 day) Level 1 (1 to 4 EWP) = 40% of 1% Point Avg + 1% of EWP;

- Period 2 (current 52 weeks + 1 day) Level 2 (5 to 9 EWP) = 80% of 1% Point Avg + 1% of EWP;

- Period 2 (current 52 weeks + 1 day) Level 3 (over 9 EWP) = 1% Point Avg + 1% of EWP;

- Period 3 (last 8 event weeks) Level 1 (1 to 3 EWP) = 40% of 1% Point Avg + 1% of EWP;

- Period 3 (last 8 event weeks) Level 2 (4 or 5 EWP) = 80% of 1% Point Avg + 1% of EWP;

- Period 3 (last 8 event weeks) Level 3 (over 5 EWP) = 1% Point Avg + 1% of EWP;
